Surveyor 1, Lunar surface, Day 164, June 13, 1966

A collection of 96 photographs capturing the Moon’s surface and horizon, taken by the Surveyor probe—the first U.S. spacecraft to achieve a successful landing on the Moon. The mission aimed to study the texture and composition of the lunar terrain. The images are silver prints, each approximately 1⅞ inches (4.8 cm) square, affixed to a U.S. Geological Survey mount measuring 30¾x14½ inches (78.1×36.8 cm). Each photograph features a handwritten time notation on the front, accompanied by a typed label with a descriptive title on the mount.
