Ormond GIGLI: Fashion Photographer and Iconic Portrait Artist
Ormond GIGLI (1925-2019) was a renowned fashion photographer. Beyond his collaborations with prominent publications such as LIFE, Collier’s, and Paris Match, Ormond GIGLI photographed many of the celebrities of his time. His career truly took off when he stepped in for Robert CAPA to shoot a series of portraits for LIFE. Assignments quickly followed, with each personal project leading to another, and Ormond GIGLI soon became a leading figure in fashion photography.
His photograph “Girls in the Windows, New York” (1960) definitively solidified his reputation. This iconic image remains one of the most recognized pictures in the world, firmly establishing Ormond GIGLI’s legacy in the history of photography.
