Douglas KIRKLAND : Master of Celebrity Portraits and Film Photography
Douglas KIRKLAND (1934-2022) was a Canadian photographer based in the USA. Renowned for his portrait work, he photographed celebrities and models since the 1950s. Douglas KIRKLAND collaborated with various magazines, including Look and Life, for which he also undertook photojournalistic projects in Greece, Japan, and Lebanon, among other locations.
Movie stars have met Douglas KIRKLAND’s lens both in studios and on set. This acclaimed photographer participated in numerous film shoots, creating a dual career that made a significant documenting contribution to American cinema over the past 50 years. He explored the world of cinema through a distinct personal aesthetic, now available for discovery through his body of work.
