Deana Nastic: The Art of Captured Emotion
Born in 1964 in Belgrade, Serbia, Deana Nastic is an internationally acclaimed photographer currently based in Toronto, Canada. Formerly a fine arts artist, she transitioned to photography, finding it a natural extension of her watercolor work. Her passion for fluidity and spontaneity is expressed through innovative and unique photographic techniques.
In 2016, she showcased her first solo exhibition, “Invisible Brush,” at Toronto’s Izzy Gallery, marking the beginning of her international recognition. The following year, she participated in the collaborative project X-Posed, The Disruptor Series, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA). Her work has since been displayed in prestigious galleries, including galerie GADCOLLECTION.
Deana Nastic is renowned for her intimate portraits, imbued with mysticism and solitude. She employs long-exposure techniques and unconventional lighting to create shadows and light that dance across her subjects. Her work, merging her fine arts background with the expressive possibilities of photography, continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression.
