Cássio VASCONCELLOS: Brazilian Photographer Specializing in Travel and Displacement

Cássio VASCONCELLOS (1965-) is a Brazilian photographer from São Paulo. He studied photography at the Imagem-Ação school in São Paulo before beginning a career as a photojournalist. Alongside his reporting and advertising assignments, he undertakes personal projects.

Recognized by both his peers and critics, his photographs delve into themes of travel and displacement. His series of nocturnal images resemble intriguing urban strolls, marked by vibrant, multi-colored lighting.

Cássio VASCONCELLOS also immerses us in the lush vegetation of the Amazon with his series A Picturesque Voyage Through Brazil.

Displacement is further illustrated through modes of transport: roads, planes, cars… which Vasconcellos captures from the sky. Their repetition creates the appearance of simple patterns, nested within a logic that transcends them.
